President, Conservative Baptist Philippines (CBAP)

Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God.

Acts 20:28

Biblical elders are called to shepherd God’s people with Christlike character, sound doctrine, prayerful wisdom, and faithful example. May this Pastors and Elders Conference strengthen leaders across South Luzon to guard the flock, equip the saints, and serve together for the glory of Christ and the growth of His Church.

Dear CBAP Southern Luzon, Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

This coming November 17–19, CBAP Southern Luzon will hold a Pastors and Elders Conference in Naga City. I understand the unique challenges and great joys that come with shepherding a congregation. That is why seasons of refreshing and strengthening are vital for the health of our churches.

I hope and pray that you will prayerfully consider joining for what we trust will be a significant and encouraging time together.

What you’ll take home

By the end of the conference, participants should be able to:

  1. 1

Revisit the biblical and doctrinal foundations of eldership, including the qualifications, responsibilities, plurality, and accountability of elders in the local church.

  2. 2

Gain greater awareness of the shepherding and guarding role of elders, particularly in caring for the congregation, preserving sound doctrine, and protecting church unity.

  3. 3

Reflect on their church’s current leadership structure and practices in light of the New Testament pattern of identifying, developing, and appointing qualified elders.

  4. 4

Recognize the legal and governance responsibilities of elders as trustees, including compliance with SEC requirements, governing documents, and applicable laws as part of faithful submission to government.
